Shifting Sands:Shifting Time: Jan 22nd 1879

WOW - there we were sitting on the mud with 300 Zulus dressed in their leopard skins & loin cloths celebrating the success of the Zulus against colonialism in 1879 (politely - because they slaughtered the British)

You can imagine I was in my element!!!

The music, the beat and the people - it was just fantastic.  Apparently Charles & Camilla were there last year!  We had 3 religious leaders from 3 different faiths say prayers (that was a nice touch) the King of the Zulus, the mayor and even Josef Guma, president of SA came in by helicopter and said more than a few words in Zulu.!!!!  Its his home, he is Zulu.

We just happened to be in the right place at the right time.  Over dinner last night the KZN Financial Minister happened to join us and she made an unexpected special invitation to our table.

It was something else.

From the renactment of the Battle of Isawanda today, we travelled 3 hours and are now in the Drakensberg mountains. Internet is limited so will download my photos of the Zulu chiefs and Thulani, our wonderful guide who demonstrated the battle at Rourkes Drift and Isawanda yesterday and made it come alive for us

What an amazing time we had at Rourkes Drift
