Shifting Places; Emerging Faces; Dont Walk 3 paces; Cant Walk 2 paces!

Shifting Places; Emerging Faces; Dont Walk 3 paces

Mug of hot tea in hand, a sleepy group emerge on the wooden deck high up in the mountains overlooking the plains as far as the eye can see.  Irs 6am and dawn is breaking.  'Were going on a lion hunt'!

Scrub, trees, thickets and bush merge into one.  Was it a big black boulder?  No, it emerged out of the bush- the backside of a large rhino.  The safari opentop vehicle stopped and the rhino came to confront us.  Followed by his wife and an adorable baby, appeared from nowhere.  A wonderful 20 minutes as spent admiring these prehistoric creatures and watching their movements.  The male relaxed after a while and sprayed the area denoting his territory.

A coffee break in the bush is another experience - anything could join us.

Two stronge looking tree trunks catch our eye.  Look up to the top of the tree and two doleful eyes peer down at you.  A graceful giraffe munching the leaves.  Again we spend time admiring her until she elegantly lopes off to join her friends.

A large hole in the ground has 2 white sticks sticking out.  We reversed a bit and jumped out of our skins when a warthog bolted out of this hole.  Dont know who was more surprised.

But NO lions after 3 hours driving - well we are in the bush not a Longleat!

Cant Walk Two Paces

Enormous breakfast at 9.30.  Back on safari vehicle at 11.00 off to sit in a hide by a waterhole.  Magical and meditative.  Sitting silently just watching the animals creeping in to drink; wildebeest, zebra; impala and of coure warthogs wallowing in the mud.

Back at 12.30 and a large wicker picnic basket is handed to us. full of salads, fruit, bread, pate, all tied up in a red gingham cloth.   Cant resist sitting on the wooden deck of our delightful stone and thatch room.

3pm afternoon tea.   Oh no - more food.  Scrumptious cakes and little canapies.
4pm evening game drive.   Being in the bush at dusk is just another fantastic experience.  Having your g & t out in the bush and waiting for the nocturnal animals to come out.  Eyes in the dark.
Return back at 8.30   No time to change.
9pm a FOUR COURSE dinner under the stars in the boma.  Braai alight and candles lit, tables around the campfire.
What else - no wonder we cant move 2 paces!!!  Awesome setting; Awesome food.

Finish off the day on your own deck, sipping a glass of port, left in the room,; listening to the sounds of Africa - in your own swinging hammock!!!!!

AWESOME AFRICA
