Shifting Sands of Time

KwaZulu Natal  is a state in South Africa the size of Portugal.  Diverse: Unique: Outstanding scenery of Mountains, Countryside & Coastline; polite happy people despite the many years of diversity & bloodshed.

In circa 1400 a sailor from Portugal named the area after his surname 'Natal'.
KwaZulu means home of the Zulus.  In 1994, after many years of bloodshed, apartheid was abolished & Natal was renamed KwaZulu Natal.

KZN runs down the east coast of Africa from Swaziland to Eastern Cape.  The majestic mountain ranges of the Drakensberg lie to the southwest; the extensive plains of the game parks lie to the north; and the long coastline of sandy beaches runs down north to south; with many rivers opening into the Indian Ocean. Great wetland areas protected as National Heritage sites, home to hippos & crocs & the plains housing the Big 5 being restocked with animals: hunting banned.
Rich soil for farming, sugar cane, cotton and many other commodities.  Whilst Pietermaritzburg is the capital - Durban is the fastest growing city in the world. A city with beautiful sandy beaches; wide roads; enormous docks, marinas, great shops & its major international airport only 40 minutes drive.

KZN offers every type of sport and an amazing lifestyle AND the weather stays over 20 deg all year!!

Durban - its tall buildings, sandy beaches and the white building in the distance is the inspiring Moses Mabhida Stadium where you can walk over the arch.

WHICH SPORT DO YOU CHOOSE?

Two Oldies wanted to go shark diving - the management took some time to decide whether we were too old or not!!   Hmmm....

IT WAS A BIT TAME - THINK WE WILL GO OUT TO SEA!

SNORKELLING WAS FAB - INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL FISH - another world.

If there are dreams
about a beautiful South Africa
There are also roads
that lead to their goal.
Two of these roads
could be named Goodness
And Forgiveness"

Tomorrow we are off to visit the Battlefields and then the Drakensberg mountains......
