Shifting Sands - Let us Live & Strive for freedom; In South Africa, our land

One of the most poignant moments in my life was standing with 300 Zulu warrior chiefs & thousands of black people singing the South African National anthem.  So very moving, quite difficult to describe, except obviously, it brought tears to our eyes.  Just the music itself is moving but to sing with all these wonderful people was magical.

'From the darkness of the skies
From the depth of our seas
Over our everlasting mountains
Where the echoing crags resound
Sounds the call to come together
And United we shall stand
Let us Live & Strive for Freedom
In South Africa Our Land.'

After leaving Isandlwana, we drove to the Drakensberg but the weather was closing in.  Eventually found the Ardmore Farm with a Zuri!  It was delightful with pig, ducks, horses and lots of dogs.

This was our accommodation.  A lounge with a fireplace and wood, 3 bedrooms, one being upstairs with a balcony, fourposter bed & a fireplace with wood.  Gorgeous!

The Ardmore proudly produces woven textiles and ceramics.

Another one of those great evenings round a long table meeting new faces and hearing new tales

The following day the mist had moved in and we couldnt see any of the mountains sadly.  Also the Ardmore was full, so we had to move on and decided to head back to the smell of the sea and the sand.
Stopped at Howick to see the falls and explore the quaint village.

Back with the smell of the sea and the sand under our toes.  Rugby training on The Bluff

I was kindly given this beautiful picture of a boy holding the horns of one of his cattle.

The words above are:

"Surrounded by a world of tangible and visible things - animals, plants, stars - man, at any time, perceives that in the deepest of these beings and these things resides something powerful that can not be described, and which animates them"
